DANSEUSE A LA COUPE

Height: 62 cm
Length: 22 cm

Reference:

In 1923, MAX LE VERRIER realised his first dancer from a live model, recruited by an advertisment she saw in a shop on the « Rue du Commerce » in the 15th district.
The little « J » who introduced herself, perfectly suited the idea of the artist, as she was a former danser at the « Folies Bergères ».
Besides of her earnings for the hours she posed, MAX LE VERRIER offered her a bronze sculpture.
In 1978 Mrs « J » got in touch on the phone : « I am Mrs « J » who posed for the DANSEUSE A LA COUPE and I would like to give it to my grand children ! »
All teenagers do not have their grand mother sculpted in her birthday suit !
Mrs « J » accepted 55 years later to take the pose again for a picture, but this time dressed... of course.
