HISTORY
In 1933, Max LE VERRIER sculpted his « WALKING LION » in a very 1925’s style in front of the cages of the BOUGLIONE circus at the « Jardin d’acclimatation ».
One day of July, a lion died ; some carelessness made that four days later the lion was still in the back of its cage, smelling really strongly. : flies, maggots all around it… let’s stop the details...
With the BOUGLIONE brothers’agreement, Max LE VERRIER removed the animal’s head. It has been burried during 6 months near ant hill. Its skull, jaw and teeth came out from the earth as clean as a brand new penny.
Today, the head is still on top of a dresser, ready to face the eternity.
